THE IDEA BEHIND THE BLOG

JACIE STEEVES
Hi all! I’m Jacie and I am one of the girls behind the blog! I am 22 and in my fourth year at Queen’s University in the commerce program. I grew up in a small town called Brighton, in-between Kingston, and Toronto. Growing up in the country I have always loved being outside and enjoy camping, hiking, kayaking and anything outdoorsy! Some of my favourite things include cooking, reading, and traveling when it’s safe to do so. Some of the Self-Care activities that I use in my daily life are simple things like making my bed every morning and making sure to have a mostly healthy diet and exercise plan. I am looking forward to sharing some of the tips we have learned over the years for simple Self-Care!
EVA CUSTEAU
My name is Eva Custeau, and I am a 21-year-old student at Queen’s University. I was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, and now I live in Kingston during the school year to study in the Commerce program at Queen’s. In my free time, I love to spend time with my friends, traveling, try out new restaurants and bars, be active, go snowboarding and watch Netflix. I try to incorporate self-care into my routine as much as possible, by going on walks, doing face masks with my friends, eating healthy, organizing my room, and exercising. Me and Jacie are very excited to share our easy and affordable self-care tips with you all and can’t wait to start this journey with you. Please feel free to explore our blog and to connect with us, we can’t wait!
HOW IT ALL STARTED
Rewind to a little over three years ago - it was the start of our new journey, as first-year at Queens University. We were lucky enough to be roommates and in the same program. Because of this, we shared everything with each other, the good times and the bad. Navigating first year was difficult at times, as there were a lot of new stresses that we had to tackle. This is where the idea of Self-Care Sundays began, in our tiny double dorm room, and now three years later we wanted to share some of the tips and tricks we have learned over the past 4 years at university with others! Navigating university is a major change and we learned the hard way how difficult it is to do it all.... this is where Self-Care Sundays came into place. Each Sunday we would make a point of making time for self-care. We would do cheap, easy things to deal with our stress as we had little energy and money. Whether it be cleaning our room together to prepare for the week, going on walks to get active, or doing simple face or hair masks for a little self-love. This transitioned into not only a healthier overall outlook and a more enjoyable start to the week ahead but it also made us truly look forward to each Sunday!
